1. Remove the foil. With a corkscrew knife or serrated knife, score the foil under the lip of the wine bottle, turning the bottle as you go. Peel the foil away from the cork
2. Insert the corkscrew into the center of the cork and twist until there is a small amount of screw showing. If you turn too far, you risk breaking the cork.
3. Use the corkscrew’s leverage handle to lift the cork out of the bottle about three quarters of the way.
Then, with your hands, work the cork out the rest of the way.
