The 2014 vintage offered excellent growing conditions. A mild winter and spring compounded with almost no rain contributed to early ripening, low to moderate yields and highly concentrated grapes resulting in exceptional fruit quality. The 2014 is one the earliest vintages we’ve seen in over a decade, but it will also go down as one of the best.
Fermentation: The grapes were picked at dawn then crushed and destemed quickly to tanks while still cold. After a long cold soak, fermentation was started and the tanks were allowed to heat up for maximum extraction of fruit and color. During fermentation the wine was pumped over 3 times per day to give the yeast plenty of oxygen for a nice clean fermenting and good extraction. Once dry the grapes were lightly pressed off the skins and the wine have been barrel down in mix of French and American barrels with 40% new oak
